Happiness

This is dedicated to one of mah blogger friend Madhvi, who is really a wonderful person.

“It was right then that I started thinking about Thomas Jefferson on the Declaration of Independence and the part about our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And I remember thinking how did he know to put the pursuit part in there? That maybe happiness is something that we can only pursue and maybe we can actually never have it. No matter what. How did he know that? “

Happiness could be complex enough to actually be defined or simple enough just like breathing. However the dark side of human nature (which constitutes elements like greed, anger and many more which everyone is though aware of yet not deprived of) makes us choose the former part. One can never chase happiness. One can achieve it for some time but sooner or later it perishs and to choas. However, there is always something in life for everyone which can make us experience this feeling. It could be music, someone special, any good deed etc…

A mother seeing the well being of her child feels happiness. A farmer toiling hard and earning meal experiences it. An artist practicing his art feels happiness and any human being helping others unselfishly feels this wonder. A person having money, power or fame could even be lacking this altruistic feeling in his life. On the other hand, a person poor enough in the eyes of society might be enlightened within, to be happy.

No one can teach you to be happy but you. This post doesn’t tell you the means to achieve it. However it enlightens very little aspect of this limitless concept. I decided to write it with an intention to find my own purpose. Everyone has a purpose which somehow we forget in this fast moving life. There is an activity which states that “spare at least half an hour of day to practice that thing which has no other purpose but just pure feeling of happiness.” Forget your job, studies, promises, responsibilities for that period and figure out or practice that something. It will help you explore your life and add more meaning to it.

Thank you all

“I love sharing my story. It’s endlessly healing.”

I started this blog in march with a motive to express my feelings and share them. I would like to thank to all my WordPress friends who had shared their thoughts with me. Lately, I got passed the mark of 1000 hits which is a kind of a wonderful feeling.  On this occasion, I have created a Facebook page to give it a complete identity. This blog makes me feel happy and I am sure if we all share things with each other we can spread happiness.

Once again many thanks for giving me this overwhelming experience. Hope we all can inspire each other to move on.

Writers write for themselves

Why is it so important to understand this concept? If you just want to chase the fame then I guess writing is certainly not the profession for you. Writing is all about expressing yourself towards an expression which you never reach. It’s about tiny details which you can never see but only imagine. It’s about starring at paper for such long time thinking till the moment when blood starts trickling from your forehead. And it’s not easy until you love it. Most people can write but only few who write for themselves and value their writings like million bucks can only be called writers. There is nothing more common than piece of paper with some crap written on it. If you are the one who can find value in that crap then you are a writer. From the farther beginnings, all the great writers were great thinkers and even before that they were great readers. Make sure first you learn the value of writings much before developing vocabulary or correcting grammar. Read your writing or someone else writings as if nothing on earth is more precious than that. Once you understand the value of it only then you can ever be worthy of it.

What does omen portend?

Omen is a phenomenon like nature’s response, animal voice, moon positioning, symbol, good luck charm or amulet, incantation etc. that bodes the upcoming happenings which could be either good or bad depending upon different cultures and their interpretation. It is believed that everything has energy of its own. Positive energies connect to us in conforming manner and foreshadows bonanza whereas negative ones are inauspicious and such premonitions augurs untoward and ill-fated conditions.

However, these portents are totally subjective and are construed differently by various cultures and traditions. Some are believed just to be superstitions and not really a helpful auspice for boding future. For example a cat is believed to be a bad sign and a cow is considered to be fortuitous. In a country like India, cows and cats are too abundant to give you an omenious feeling. How many times it can happen that you find a cows and end up being feckless and hapless. There are many great philosophers and successful people who do not consider omens to play any role.

In ancient times however, it was given huge importance, for example animal sacrifice to God or Goddess was considered to fetch felicitous and providential fortune. However, in today’s generation no one cares what brings what, except the few gamblers, celebrities etc. who largely depends on some stroke of luck to be successful.

Now should you believe in omens is what this articles wants to enlighten. That is, can omens bring success and prosperity to common men lives. The answer is vague and subjective. It may for you and may not for others. Or it may for you now and not always. What I believe is that trying to interpret omens limits your potentials of performance and input you give. However, one can’t deny the fact that fate and destiny means a lot in life and omens govern them. So here I end up, without unclouded views on omens. Yet to end, I would like to state, against all odds, one thing is for sure that hard work and diligence will always fetch good omens and will make you luckier. Just omens alone are not enough.

“Without a sign, his sword the brave man draws, and asks no omen but his country’s cause”

The more I know, I know, how little I know

Knowledge is vast, facts are endless, information is generated several tons every second and your knowledge keeps on piling on. With every experience whether good or bad, you can always learn something or the other. In all that you do, you apply something that you had got before and the process continues, we learn, we apply and we learn again by applying. Even if you are doing the same task 100th time, there is something new that you can get. But that all happens only till we are young. As we grow old, the capability of mind to grasp new things starts perishing and too much repetition is required to grasp and learn.

“Learning never exhausts the mind.”    – (Leonardo Da Vinci)

Since knowledge is vast and your capabilities are limited, you can’t get the whole of it. In fact, one can’t even master a single field be it singing, computers, sports etc. Therefore, whatever your field of work is, you always have a lot which you can learn. And striving to learn more even bit by bit will inspire you to be better and be more knowledgeable. The quest to have more will get you going and the moment you get something, you realise that you lack a lot and you got to move on. This is the beauty of life. Move on and life has lot to surprise you. Work is no more exhaustive if you keep on learning new things because that will supply vim and spark to get more.

“The day you stop learning is the day you stop living.” – (Albert Einstein)

If your mind stops learning, it gets frustrated. Mind always needs a feed. You can’t put you mind to halt. Mind will do something or the other. Give it a positive feed and satisfy it or else it will keep looking for negative ones and put you in trouble. Controlling our mind requires lots of meditation and inner strength which people lack in today’s fast moving life style. And to cope with today’s world, one needs to develop positive mental attitude by continuous positive feed to your mind (for example by autosuggestion, knowing your inner self etc). If you fail to develop this mental state, it will start germinating negative thoughts.

Do you know what you want to be?

Life is mysterious to many, unknown to even more and little known to only a few. Just halt a second and check out in which category you fall in. If you think you know what you wanna be then consider yourself a lucky one.

Right from the beginning of life we are taught by our parents and teachers. And later when we grow, we tend to have the habit of getting spoon fed. However there always is a time in life when we get awaken and start perceiving life in our own way and begin to have our own stand and beliefs. But still the competition surrounding us doesn’t let us escape the rat race which limits our creativity. So here we are either to follow the rat race and compete or to have courage to be different.

“Follow all the rules and become ordinary”

If you choose to compete this rat race and compete hard, still you need to keep in mind that winner of a rat race is also a rat. You won’t have your own opinions because you are governed by the environment and this competition influences you to make you what you become. So you won’t be able to become what you want but you would be what this competitive pressure wants.

“Never ever a leader is created by environment. It’s the leader which creates environment”

The second path where you follow your dreams, do what you love and make your life your own way seems to be superb but it requires courage to deny the rules which are against your interests and following your passion irrespective of any criticism.

“Success means having the courage, the determination, and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be” (George Sheehan)

However, not everyone lives a passionate life. Forget about living, in fact only few people have passions in life. Most people often follow the straight path and get trapped in the race which they start hating after few years and their life becomes stagnant. Having a passionate direction and inspiration to follow your ambition is something that is required which can make you love your work as well as your life.

“I don’t want to be the product of my environment. I want my environment to be a product of me”

Here follows two important questions. First, do you think you know what your passion is? If yes then follows the second, do you have enough courage to break the surrounding barrier and chase your own dreams?

“At the centre of your being, you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want.”
(Lao Tzu)

To be aware of your passion, just find out the things that inspire you or the things that you are doing right from your childhood or the things that you love and always wanted to do. Take time to practice your interests. Everyone have something or the other, the only thing is to find it.

Dreams are extremely important. You can’t do it unless you imagine it.
(George Lucas)

Now if you think you are at this stage where you can identify your aim but still have doubts on your capability to accomplish it. There are two ways, first take a chance, come out of comfort zone and follow your interests. Other is to practice your passion as a hobby and slowly move to a level where you can choose it as your profession.  Once you reach or choose that carrier where you love your work then you don’t need to work anymore.

“I never did a day’s work in my life. It was all fun.” (Thomas Edison)

It seems easy but it may turn out to be horrible. It depends, not everyone on earth is born to follow dreams. On the other hand, not a single thing is impossible. I don’t want to be judgemental, in fact, who am I to be, it totally depends on you. The purpose of this article is to enlighten you. The decision is yet to be taken by you and not anyone else. No one can choose for you and make you one. Only you can choose what you want to be.

“Understand that the right to choose your own path is a sacred privilege. Use it. Dwell in possibility.
(Oprah Winfrey).
